Boldmere Futures CIC is a large membership Community Interest Company. It covers the area of Boldmere, mainly B73 areas 5 and 6. It is a not-for-profit organisation run by a Board of Directors and empowered by its members. There are two classes of members:
- Voting members
- individuals who live in the Boldmere Area;
- organisations organisations based in the Boldmere Area. Such organisations may include (not limited to) businesses, whether incorporated or not; community and/or volunteer organisations; schools; religious organisations. Organisations must have a named representative for membership. Any member of the organisation can attend the meeting and vote at a meeting in place of the named representatives.
- individuals who actively volunteer in activities that support the aims of Boldmere Futures CIC
- Non-voting members
- elected members of Birmingham City Council whose ward falls in whole or in part in the Boldmere Area;
- elected members of Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council whose ward falls in whole or in part in the Boldmere Area;
- organisations operating in the Boldmere Area. Such organisations may include (not limited to) businesses, whether or not incorporated; community and/or volunteer organisations; schools; religious organisations.
Current regulations state that organisations who wish to become voting members, must have their only office or head office or main office physically situated within the Boldmere Area. Organisations that are physically situated within the Boldmere Area but have a head office or main office outside of the Boldmere Area may be admitted as non-voting members (e.g. multi-chain stores). Community groups such as Scouts, charities and churches who are part of a larger umbrella organisation, may be given voting rights at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
Voting members may not:
- have more than one vote;
- hold duplicate membership. An individual cannot hold two memberships by meeting more than one of the membership criteria. The named representative of an organisation cannot be an individual who is already a member of the company through other criteria;
- be organisations whose function is primarily or significantly political in nature.
Individual and organisation members can apply to join using the online form below. Organisations should provide details of a named contact. Membership can only be approved by the Board of Directors. Although extremely unlikely to be required, we are obliged to inform you that the liability of each member is limited to £1, being the amount that each member undertakes to contribute to the assets of the Company in the event of its being wound up while he or she is a member or within one year after he or she ceases to be a member.
