Summer 2022

The Boldmere Summer Festival (Commonwealth Games Theme) took place on Sunday 17th July 2022 from 1pm to 6pm.

Boldmere Summer Festival 2022

 

The schedule for the Main Stage was:

 

13:00-13:45

Panaché Steel Pan Band

Panaché is one of the UK’s premier Steel Bands and perform as a trio and have over 30 years performance experience. Their repertoire consists of a wide mix of styles including Jazz, Contemporary Pop, Easy Listening,  Samba, Reggae, Salsa and of course Calypso.

14:00 – 14:20

Plantsbrook School – Soundlab-BRUM

Soundlab-BRUM is a creative after school music making session run by The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Soundlab-BRUM works across four schools across the city including Plantsbrook School in Sutton Coldfield, allowing young musicians to create, write and perform their own music as well as collaborating with other young creatives across the city.

14:35-15:25

Nifeco Costa and Babcock Djazz

Nifeco Costa moved to the UK from Guinea Bissau, west Africa following several years in Portugal performing many events and shows. He moved to the UK and formed Babcock Djazz made of a combination of local musicians with origins from around the globe

15:40-16:30

Friendly Fire Band – Birmingham’s premier live reggae and dancehall outfit.

Their “It’s a Brum Ting” single as part of the “on Record” album for Birmingham 2022, will be the official soundtrack for the BBC’s coverage of the Commonwealth Games

17:00-18:00 Brad Henshaw Band (international singer and songwriter)

 

British Triathlon / Triathlon England

We were delighted to welcome British Triathlon and Triathlon England who offered visitors the opportunity to try out a mini triathlon with turbos, bikes, cones, running and a changeover area.  All this will take place on the Harvester Car Park.

  • Cup and saucer ride
  • Bungee trampolines
  • Roundabout
  • Hook-a-Duck
  • Galloping horses carousel

Plus over 50 market stalls and your favourite Boldmere shops.

We Need Your Help!

If you would be able to help us with the Community Festivals, in the days leading up to them, setting them up and setting them down, or during the festivals themselves, then please visit our volunteer page to complete a short application form.

We provide snacks and water to all volunteers and for those who stay at the event for longer than 5 hours we will provide a hot meal voucher too.  You will receive a full volunteer information pack before the day and a briefing on the day.
