Friends of Wylde Green Train Station are a group of volunteers formed and constituted in 2020.
We are aiming to make a difference to the biodiversity of our green corridors, make the station a more welcoming place with regular litter picks and working parties, enhance the local community and encourage the use of sustainable transport.
In 2021 during the Coronavirus pandemic we gave ‘tree slices’ to local artists, all of whom live within a reach of the train station,to create at home.
These artists range from a 16 year old GCSE student to a renowned ‘Birmingham artist who explores city skylines and iconic buildings using architectural patterns and geometric shapes’.
We used a guide to ensure the design fitted certain boundaries but generally the artists had creative freedom to design and create their own artwork.
This display was planned to be installed at the station but we decided they would be better preserved and enjoyed by the community if they were installed at The Deli.
They are to be found in the courtyard, there’s an information photo album in the cafe too, we hope you enjoy the installation. FOWGT
